Blackjack’s Rabbit Rescue Sanctuary is a non-profit organization located in Cherry Valley Ontario just minutes from Sandbanks Provincial Park. We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming domesticated rabbits, as well as offering sanctuary to bunnies with disabilities. This rescue receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of volunteers and animal lovers everywhere.
On a personal note… we (Jennifer Heffern and Paul Lindsay) have been privately rescuing and rehabilitating needy bunnies for over 8 years. Purchasing a rural farm property has now given us the room to expand. We hope to help many more rabbits in the future.
Why A Building?
While we believe that foster homes are the ideal for homeless bunnies, we also realize that there are situations, sometimes temporary, sometimes long term where this is not always an option.
Here at Blackjack’s Rabbit Rescue we strive to give these bunnies an experience as close to that of a foster home as possible. We do this by keeping the ratio of volunteers to rabbits at a minimum and assigning a primary worker to each rabbit to allow important one on one time.
We will initially have room for 22 xpens and two or three exercise areas. In season we also have outdoor pens for exercise. We have air conditioners and video cameras to monitor the bunnies at all times and a back up generator in case of power failure.
(If all goes well we also have room for expansion.)
